Yu-Gi-Oh! arrives on Facebook, does it hold up in transition?

Yu-Gi-Oh BAM is a variation on the popular collectible card game series, featuring quicker card games, dueling with friends, custom decks, card collecting, challenges and much more! Also featured as some of your favorite characters from the show, such as Yugi, Joey, Marik, Seto-Kaiba, and much more, including its own story in text format and various extra challenges along the way.

Starting off in the game, you will begin with a starter deck to begin with, following the story and unlock more chapters, cards, and earning coins, which can be spent on purchasing more cards to customize future decks. Game play is a bit different than playing an actual game of Yu-Gi-Oh!, such as only attack settings, rather than being able to switch a card from attack to defense and so forth, but most of the core game is intact.
Spell cards are also featured, and can be deployed in the same manner as the original game, however, instead of 5 channels to lay down your monsters and spells, the game board is set to only 3, to speed up the games. Also of note is that the standard decks have been lowered to 15, making game play quicker as well, having to make more strategic use of your deck layouts. BAM suggests 10 monsters to 5 spell ratios, which makes sense, because of the lower amount of cards that can be played.

You can earn cards by playing the story chapters, completing objectives (which are needed in order to increase your level), dueling friends, or doing arena duels, which allows you to play against random people. Dueling with others give you "card pieces", which is another currency needed to purchase booster packs and certain cards. The final currency given is the "Duel Points", only received from either purchasing them with real money, and completing certain objectives. All of these currencies can be used to purchase cards or booster packs, and some cards are added and removed in the rosters at certain intervals in updates.

Overall, a person who enjoys Yu-Gi-Oh or collectible card trading games in general, will enjoy this game, and especially if they have friends who enjoy the same kind of games too! This game does a great job of keeping to the source material of the TV show and manga interpretations, and the cards and effects are very similar to their real life counterparts!

Dungeon Rampage: Not your average Facebook game!

Dungeon Rampage is an action RPG/Dungeon Crawler much akin to games like Diablo and their ilk, featuring randomly generated dungeons, multi-player action with up to 4 players at a given time, and lots of loots and characters to play with!

This game is different from most Facebook games, as there is no energy bar present, so you can play as much as you would like without penalty! You start off in the Rookie league, and the game offers you a brief tutorial level, featuring the highlander berserker. This character is a heavy melee based character, and the opening tutorial will teach you some of the basics of the game. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses, special powers, and 3 weapon slots using the Z,X, and Y keys. Some weapons can be charged up using mana to deliver powerful attacks and abilities, such as the hammer which sends a shockwave out and damages enemies in its way.

As you continue playing you will encounter loot chests, and have different levels of rarity. Common, Uncommon, and Legendary Chests, and these will require the required key in order to open them. Most of these will offer you weapons for the various characters, or perhaps some item boosts, like XP potions or power potions.

Each Character in the game has their own special power, which benefits the entire team for a brief time, but can come in handy during overwhelming odds. You get these by picking up gold stars, which can be found by destroying statues or by destroying the environment. Once you are ready to unleash it and have filled up your special meter bar, pressing the B button allows you to go all powerful and unleash your devasting power!

Thankfully, almost everything in this game can be bought with the in-game gold, or for a small price you can purchase "Gems", which are the real money currency, in order to purchase new characters, styles, keys, and other items. Styles are basically different character models, and you can purchase pets which will help you out in your journey.

You can also have up to 3 other players join you in your dungeon crawls, and they can join your game mid-game if you allow it. More players inside a dungeon will increase the difficulty and XP rewards given, but can be a big help in some dungeons and boss fights. Continuing onward through the different dungeon terrains, levels, and boss fights will lead you through different leagues of increasing difficulty.

The action in this game is intense and reminds me of a cross between Smash TV, Diablo, and Castle Crashers. The character designs and cartoony style definitely gives me a bit of a Castle Crashers vibe, and the loot fest and money grabbing reminds me of Diablo and Smash TV, which makes for a fun combination.
Overall, I found this game to be a fun, different style of Facebook game, featuring actual live multiplayer co-operation, high replayability through looting and XP leveling, and a wide range of characters to unlock and play! I definitely recommend this game to the Facebook game player who is wanting something different!

Stormfall: Age of War is a competitive war game on facebook where you build up a castle, attack other Lords, steal their resources, siege them, defend and attack outposts, and much more! The game starts off with a decent and length tutorial, teaching you the basics of the game, and all the nuances within. The tutorial quests feature a decent voice actor and a text summary, immersing you into the lore of the game and giving you more detail of what to do and what to accomplish. I found the tutorials in this game to be very helpful, especially to new players of Plariums combat war games, such as Total Domination and others.
Gameplay

There is much to do in this game, from raiding, sieges, building units, upgrading buildings, discovering new technologies, and much more! At first you will be building your main resource buildings, which include gold, iron, and food, and all of them are important in their own way. Iron is mostly used in constructing offensive units, gold for defensive units, and food is deducted for each unit and building that exists in your castle. You will also use all 3 resources in construction of your buildings and their upgrades, as well as upgrading and discovering new technologies and units.

New Technologies will grant you access to more advanced buildings, better trained units, and newer units. Each day you will receive a random scroll, which can be applied to discover a new technology, should you have enough of the required scrolls. If you do not, you can always trade them with other players via the marketplace. Once you have unlocked an unit technology, you can spend resources to upgrade them up to lvl 20, with each upgrade level increasing their overall stats by 2%.

Skull Runes are a commodity given through level ups and other means. These Runes can be applied on a "Tech Tree" of sorts, which will allow you to do things such as increasing their speed, build times, group unlocks, and other attributes. You will see the requirement of skull runes in each tree below going further down on said tree, allowing more customization and diversity from other Lords, based on their own strategies.
Units come in two main flavors, offensive and defense, and 5 sub categories (Infantry, Calvary, Occult Beastiary, and Mountain Dwarves). Each sub categorie is different in their own ways, and defensive units are better at countering specific types. For instance, a Dwarf is a defensive unit suited to countering infantry and calvary units, which adds a unique layer of strategy for a Facebook war game.

In this game you can join "Leagues", which are players united in a group, and form alliances with friends. You can also visit friends and create wraiths, which are special units created from friends only and you can summon them yourself with the Crypt, but only 3 a day, everyday. You can also defend your friends with reinforcements, trade, and much more as well, adding a layer of strategy and cooperation with friends, because this a competitive game, and you could use all the friends you can get!

Overall, this is a fun, competitive, war game and if you are into strategy games and player versus player combat. you will enjoy playing this game!

Chefville, one of the latest games from Zynga, is a game where you get to build your dream restaurant. There is a big difference between Cafeworld and Chefville. One big difference, is that you use ingredients to create your dishes, and you can gather them by using energy on their respective items, such as tomato vines, milk trucks, gathering wild onions, mushrooms, and so forth. Also, this game gives you a generous amount of energy, unlike other games where energy consumption is very strict. You start off with 25 Energy, which is more than enough just starting out.

You have multiple dishes to create, by using salad bars, brick ovens, grills, and so forth, but you need all of the available ingredients first in order to create them. Some dishes require additional creations built using mixers and toasters, such as creating croutons, dough, pita chips and more beforehand, which really add to the atmosphere of creating said dishes. The game also will give the real recipe so you can create your own dishes in real life, which is a really nice touch.

Visiting other players on your friend list and helping them out will net you additional resources, and if you are a regular visitor (3 visits or more), you will receive pepper, which is definitely needed for a lot of dishes. Sometimes when eating your visitors dishes or helping out, you will get a chance to receive an ingredient for use in your store, which can help if you are running low. Helping out other players actually feels like you are being rewarded for assisting, rather than just getting useless items in other games.

Some of the structures you build in the game, like the salad bar, will need players helping you in order to have them successfully created, which you will need quite a few players in this game in order to keep advancing the quests and the structures needed for said quests, or other ingredients. Like almost all Zynga games, you will need other people playing this game, which can be rather troublesome depending on others to help out, unless you want to spend real money to advance, which I dont recommend, as almost everything can be got with Chefville players.

Overall I find this game to be a fun diversion and recommended to people who love cooking and want to get real recipes while playing, all the while building your dream restaurant. Generous energy meter, real recipes as a bonus, visiting others is worth it, and much more make this game a really good game for those who want something different other than CafeWorld.
