Top 20 Temptations Hits

Americas all-time favorite soul group got their start in 1960. In 1961, they recorded for the Miracle label under the name of The Elgins and The Primes.

The original lineup featured Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin, Otis Williams (no relation to member Paul) and Eldridge Bryant.

In 1961, Berry Gordy signed the group to Motown, but since there was already an active group known as The Elgins, they changed their name to The Temptations.

When David Ruffin, cousin of Billy Stewart, replaced Bryant in 1964, thats when the hits started coming. Although Ruffin sang lead on many of their hits, the other members shared leads on some of their other songs.

Ruffin, who was causing friction among the other group members and Motown chief, Berry Gordy, was fired from the group in 1968. Kendricks left the group in 1970 after internal problems resulted in arguments over leadership of the group. Both singers returned for the 1982 "Reunion" album.

On the charts, The Temptations scored 37 times on the Billboard Top 40 weekly charts between 1964 and 1975. Four times they went to number one and many of their songs have been covered by other artists.

Kendricks and Ruffin both had successful solo careers with Ruffin having three Top 20 Billboard hits and Kendricks having four, with "Keep On Truckin" going to number one.

Here are The Temptations 20 biggest hits, according to the Billboard weekly Top 40 charts.

The Temptations were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. A four hour television miniseries, "The Temptations", based on an autobiography by band member Otis Williams, was broadcast in 1998.

Does He Love Me

Does he love me? When you ask yourself this question, it only means one thing. Youve gotten to a point in your relationship that youre certain the guy you like likes you back. But youre not sure if his feelings for you have deepened into love. Hopefully, the tips below can help you find out the real state of your relationship.

Does he love me if he wants us to live together?

Not always, but its a good start. Commitment is a big thing for guys and they dont give up their privacy so easily. If your partner has asked you to live with him, then thats a very strong sign his feelings has gone beyond mere liking. It may not be at the same level as your feelings right now but be patient and it could get there.

Does he love me if he chooses to be with me over his friends?

Most likely! Never underestimate the bond between male friends. It goes very deep even if they dont seem terribly affectionate with each other. While its common for a female to drop a girls night out for a chance to be with her guy, its not the same with boys. A guys only going to do that when he really cares about a girl, and in this case thats you.

Does he love me if he remembers important dates?

Most likely! Guys are notorious for being forgetful about a girlfriends birthday or their anniversary. But in many cases, its really more of a subconscious desire not to think about those dates because it makes everything about the relationship more serious. And sometimes theyre not just ready for that yet.

When a guy does go out of his way to commemorate the event - such as preparing a surprise candlelit dinner to celebrate your first year together - then that means he sees your relationship in a more serious and permanent level. It may not be what youve hoped for, but at least youre getting there. What matters is that your relationship is progressing.

Does he love me if he talks about the future with you in it?

Most likely! Why else would he involve you in his plans for the future if he cant envision himself spending the rest of his life with you? Listen closely to what he talks about the future. Youll be able to glean more clues about his feelings with the way he speaks of your future together. Has he mentioned anything about kids?

A Warning

In the end, of course, theres no better way to know the truth than by asking yourself. Instead of asking does he love me, go to your partner and ask him, do you love me? Sometimes, its the risk that you have to take. Just remember, however, that asking is different from nagging or forcing your partner to commit when hes not ready yet. It doesnt mean he wont ever be able to return your feelings. It only means hes not there yet and if you force his hand too early, this could backfire on you.
